Cardinals Down Two Games to One

Springfield finds themselves down two games to one in the best-of-five Texas League Championship series after Friday night's 3-2 loss to the San Antonio Missions. The Cardinals will send left-hander Adam Daniels to the mound Saturday for his first post-season start in a must win situation.

Baseball fans were treated to a pitching duel in Game Three of the Texas League Championship Series in Springfield Friday night, as Cardinals right-hander P.J. Walters and San Antonio Missions lefty Wade LeBlanc matching each other pitch for pitch through the first six innings.

Cardinals' starter P.J. Walters gave up three runs on six hits, two of them home runs and three walks with two strikeouts over seven innings and was tagged with the loss.

Mission's starter Wade LeBlanc improved to 2-0 in the playoffs, as he yielded just one run on three hits, striking out six and walking four over six innings.

San Antonio catcher Nick Hundley homered twice off of Walters to power Missions to a 3-2 win over Springfield and a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Texas League Championship Series.

For the Cardinals first baseman Mark Hamilton hit a solo homer, his fourth of the postseason, in the third and Colby Rasmus added an RBI double in the seventh for Springfield. Cody Haerther continues to swing a hot bat in the playoffs going 2-for-3 with a walk. Haerther is currently hitting .563 this postseason.

Springfield is faced with a must-win situation on Saturday night, which would force a decisive game five on Sunday. Left-hander Adam Daniels will throw for Springfield, while San Antonio goes with right-hander Mike Ekstrom. Both starters will be making their first starts of the postseason. Game time on Saturday night is 6:10pm and gates open at 5:10pm. Should the Cards win on Saturday, Sunday's game five will be a winner-take-all, scheduled for 2:10pm.
