As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our Scout.com Cardinals message board, this time for the week ending Saturday, September 15.
Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.
Daily threads during each game where posters can chat about the events on the field that day/night became tougher as the Cards' nine consecutive losses mounted. Yet, there were at least two special posts on game threads last week, both looking ahead to next year.
On page four of the September 10 game thread, "C2kSeven" wrote a long essay capturing his feelings about the Cardinals' options to retool their club for 2008.
Also on page four - of the September 13 game thread - "bicyclemike" answered a series of questions posed about the 2008 Cardinals.
With the end of the minor league regular season, the Springfield Cardinals were the last remaining Cards club playing, in the Texas League Championship. Two standout posts last week were related to that subject.
In the thread "Showdown in Springfield - Game 3 TLCS", "easton714" replied to a perennially unhappy poster and took apart the complainer's points one by one. Though it actually had nothing to do with the Springfield game, it was still worthy of a nod here.
On Saturday night, Springfield's 2007 season ended. "Philzors" was on hand and shared a personal report from the final game, starting a new thread called "Texas League Championship Game 4 report".
The Rick Ankiel human growth hormone story remained on the minds of many as the week began. "SkinnyPimp" was among the many, 228 so far, who have posted on the now-12 page thread entitled "Ankiel Accused on Receiving HGH in 2004". On page ten, Skinny gave the skinny to Bill Plaschke of the LA Times who made on-air misstatements about the conditions under which Ankiel may have used the substance.
He probably won't get a reply from Plaschke, but will at least get kudos from us. As a result, "SkinnyPimp" is our 100th weekly winner of the "Post of the Week" award. In recognition, Skinny collects a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
