As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our Scout.com Cardinals message board, this time for the week ending Saturday, September 22.
Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.
Daily threads during each game where posters can chat about the events on the field that day/night became tougher as the Cards' nine consecutive losses mounted. Yet, there were at least two special posts on game threads last week, both looking ahead to next year.
In the department of "understatement of the year", a very popular thread is entitled "Cards Need Starters For '08". In the last post on page two, "tenniseleven" shared an in-depth comparison between Anthony Reyes and the Cubs' Rich Hill.
In the thread "Modern Day Baseball - Where are all the GOOD pitchers??", about half-way down the page, "easton714" replied with first-hand observations as to why youngsters pick up the game and what it means when they do.
As the Cardinals were formally eliminated from playoff contention in 2007, thoughts turned to 2008. "cards13" began a thread aptly entitled "Let's take a look at next year" where he looked at possible roster changes by position. This discussion is currently at over 100 posts and going strong.
"easton714" also went to bat on page three of the above thread as did "MagnoliaCardsFan" on page two.
Back on the first page of that same discussion, "Let's take a look at next year", "C2kSeven" had a pair of standout posts breaking down the current roster as well as the projected opening team in 2008, as well.
"C2kSeven" made a third appearance on our top post list last week on the second page of the "game thread 9/20 vs hou". There, he offered another sharp analysis of the 2007/2008 Cardinals.
Therefore, "C2kSeven" is our newest winner of the "Post of the Week" award. In recognition, "C2kSeven" collects a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
