Cards Post of the Week – Nov. 25 thru Dec. 1

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over.

As we do each and every week here at, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, December 1.

With clear hindsight, a look back at the Cardinals draft class of 2003, focusing on players lost, was offered by "Flyer914" in starting the thread " 2003... the Draft that got away? ".

One page one of the discussion called "No Chris Duncan???" reader "jbg1443" looks clearly at the value of Duncan as well as Ryan Ludwick and concludes when the best time is to make a trade.

"philskill" started a thread looking at the applicability of a number of high-profile pitchers as trade targets for the Cardinals in this thread: "Comparison of potential traded pitchers", concluding Scott Kazmir of the Rays should be the Cards' objective.

Halfway down page one of the thread, "as much as I hate to admit it...Nathan may be right", "bodomchild" made some pointed observations about the state of the Cardinals' roster in the context of money tied up on injured, aging and underperforming players.

With the Cardinals' somewhat controversial signing of free agent Cesar Izturis this past week, a busy thread is called "Bad signings?". At the top of page two, "BW23" made some excellent observations about why the contracts of Jim Edmonds and Chris Carpenter are not bad.

Finally, like many readers, "BW23" has the upcoming Winter Meetings in mind. He began a new discussion under the title " If I was Mo in Music City (LONG)". The focus was on the list of moves Cardinals new general manager John Mozeliak should undertake in the upcoming days.

For the posts noted above, "BW23" is our latest winner of the "Post of the Week" award. In recognition, "BW23" collects a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
