Cardinals 2008 Television Schedule Announced

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced their 159-game television schedule for the 2008 regular season along with four spring telecasts.

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced their television schedule for the 2008 season. FSN Midwest (15th season) and KSDK NewsChannel 5 (second season) will again serve as television partners of the team.

FSN Midwest will carry 130 regular season games, including Opening Day on March 31 when the Cardinals host the defending National League Champion Colorado Rockies. FSN Midwest will also televise two spring games, on March 22 vs. Minnesota and March 26 vs. Baltimore. FSN Midwest will bolster its regular season games with the network's one-hour pre and postgame Cardinals Live shows. Also, the network's popular Cardinals Spring Training Report will return and again consist of player interviews and team coverage in a 30-minute package. The schedule of FSN Midwest telecasts in high definition has not yet been determined.

KSDK NewsChannel 5 will televise 20 regular season Cardinals games, all in high definition. Nineteen of those games will be Sunday afternoon telecasts. In addition, KSDK NewsChannel 5 will continue to air pre and postgame shows, along with a weekly half-hour program called Cardinal Nation that debuts on Sunday, March 9. KSDK NewsChannel 5 will televise a pair of Sunday afternoon Grapefruit League games. The March 16 telecast will feature the Redbirds and the Atlanta Braves from Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, FL, followed by a matchup with the New York Mets at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, FL one week later on March 23.

"This schedule once again shows the strong commitment of our television partners as they combine to televise the maximum number of available games and bring vast Cardinals coverage to our great fans," said Cardinals President Mark Lamping.

Nine games are currently scheduled to be carried as part of Major League Baseball's national television package, eight as a part of FOX Saturday Baseball and one on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Two games against the Chicago Cubs at the end of September presently do not have a television outlet, but will likely be added to the Cardinals schedule pending national television scheduling decisions. One game will not be televised, as the April 12 game at San Francisco has a start time that conflicts with the FOX Saturday Baseball exclusivity window.
