Cards Post of the Week – Jan. 27 thru Feb. 2

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over.

As we do each and every week here at, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, February 2.

"easton714" offered a detailed, optimistic view of the potential of the Cardinals for the next two seasons including posing a series of 25 open questions in a new thread entitled "Questions for 2008/2009 (and a bunch of other personal thoughts)". A number of other readers added their views, too.

It is a big time of the year for prognostications. On page two of the thread that began as "A Couple of 2008 Predictions", "jbg1443" looked into the stats of former AL MVP Justin Morneau vs. the Cardinals' Chris Duncan.

We are nearing the end of our top 15 Cardinals teams of all time series. Each article had a daily thread on the board to discuss and debate that day's selection. In the post-countdown discussions, "Top 15 All-Time Cards Teams - The Final Tally", one regular commenter, "bicyclemike", added his own top 15 along with commentary.

The biggest story in MLB this past week was the trade and contract extension for pitcher Johan Santana. Of course, the Mets' move generated discussion on our board, too. Page two of the thread entitled "Santana to Mets?" includes some excellent posts from "easton714", "stlNick77" and "UncleBuck44". The key to contributing to this thread is apparently having at least two digits in your handle!

The Post of the Week is really more of a thread of the week or a conversation of the week. The post simply entitled "Rasmus" began with a discussion of the Cardinals' top prospect, outfielder Colby Rasmus. Where else can you rub elbows with player's families and get inside information on your favorite prospects?

Anyway, as the thread wound on to page 7, beginning with haltz' first post there, he, "BeauHeart", "DizzyDean17" and "eaststl" carried on a very informative dialogue covering two different topics: 1) whether or not to sign big-ticket draftees like Rick Porcello, and 2) the benefit of having Rasmus begin the season at Triple-A vs. the majors.

It was a tough call, but in recognition of his multiple posts in the "Rasmus" thread, "haltz" is our winner of "Post of the Week". He collects a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
