Cardinals to Remain in Quad Cities thru 2010

The St. Louis Cardinals have extended their player development agreement with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Single-A Midwest League for two more seasons, 2009 and 2010.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Tuesday at a press conference at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, IA that they have signed a two-year extension to their player development agreement with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League.

The Quad Cities franchise has played host to Cardinals minor league players since 2005 and the new extension assures them of remaining there through at least the 2010 season.

"We are delighted to have signed this extension and remain in a beautiful facility and in front of great fans in the Quad Cities," said Cardinals Vice President/General Manager John Mozeliak. "We are also looking forward to the opportunity of developing a relationship and working with Main Street Iowa, the new ownership group in place in Quad Cities. These are exciting times for baseball fans in the Quad Cities and we are proud to be a part of it."

The Cardinals Single-A affiliate in Quad Cities has compiled a record of 226-189 (.545) in the three years of the affiliation, with the club reaching the postseason in all three seasons.
