The Springfield Cardinals Report – 03/10/08

John Brayfield reports on the latest news from the Cardinals' Double-A entry in the Texas League.

It should prove to be an exciting week in Cardinal Country as St. Louis' Double-A affiliate, the Springfield Cardinals, show up in Jupiter, Florida to begin Spring Training. Mike Lindskog, the voice of the Springfield Cardinals and media director, who says that he is leaving today (Monday, March 10) and will arrive in Florida this afternoon and begin his first full day with the team on Tuesday, had some exciting news to share with fans before he left.

"While over 6,000 tickets were being sold to the March Exhibition Games at Hammons Field against the St. Louis Cardinals in just 12 minutes on Wednesday morning (March 5), Cardinals fans were doing their homework," Lindskog said. ", one of the largest search engines in the entire world, reported that the word 'Springfield Cardinals' was the tenth most researched word on"

Names not appearing in the Top 10 were retiring Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, Presidential hopefuls Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain, the popular TV shows "Lost" and "American Idol, and not even Oprah Winfrey....but the Springfield Cardinals were right there at Number 10.

"The Springfield Cardinals would like to once again thank all the great Cardinals fans for their continued support." Lindskog said. "We hope you're all looking forward to a fantastic 2008 season. Thanks again Cardinal fans."
