Ex-Cardinals Census, 2008: The Major Leaguers

Josh Jones reports on the current whereabouts and status of 43 former St. Louis Cardinals major league players.

This past off-season, the St. Louis Cardinals lost 16 different players that made appearances with the club in 2007. Only eight of those landed on a Major League roster, two have retired, and the others have either been sent to the minors or are still searching for a club for which to play in 2008.

Part 1 of this Cardinals Census covers the former players that made stops in the St. Louis Cardinals organization over their careers and are still currently in the majors. A total of 14 players found themselves either signing with different organizations or being moved and a total of five have since called it a day for their careers. As a bonus, at the bottom you will find former Cardinals who have found work after their playing days.

This may not be all of the former players, so if anyone has a name of a player feel free to leave a message on the message boards for a later update of this list.
