In 2008, the 6-foot-0, 200 pound left-hander led his club in hitting with a .399 average, on-base percentage at .510 and was second in slugging. Though he played first base primarily this season, Peterson is being projected as an outfielder as a professional.
Peterson opened eyes in the 2007 Cape Cod League, posting a .338 average, fourth-best in the prestigious wooden bat league and his OBP of .436 was fifth-highest in the summer showcase.
The California native also hits the books as hard as the baseball, posting a 3.85 GPA as an Academic All-American, majoring in Finance, Real Estate and Law.
I caught up with Peterson a couple of hours after his selection and the audio interview follows exclusively for Scout.com subscribers.
