The 2008 season definitely did not
start the way Manager Mark DeJohn and his Batavia Muckdogs had anticipated.
With a college-heavy lineup, the
team stumbled offensively, leading to a sweep at the hands of
22nd round draft pick, shortstop Colt Sedbrook is leading the team in hitting after the first four games with a .313 average. He has hit in three of the four contests this season, including three hits in Friday night's game.
In his first start, former Quad Cities right-hander Thomas Eager allowed only one earned run while striking out five in five innings of work. Ramon Delgado and Arquimedes Nieto both have hurled four shutout innings with Delgado recording five strikeouts. Eighth round pick Ryan Kulik pitched three hitless innings in his professional debut.
