Cards Message Board Post of the Week: 7/6/08

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over. "CariocaCardinal" is our 142nd weekly winner!

As we do each and every week here at, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our St. Louis Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, July 5.

In case you've been stranded on a desert island the last week, you may have missed that the Cardinals are entertaining the Cubs. That always brings out the emotion in posters. Such is the case in the thread, "Help against Cubs fan". One page one, "kotheb" and "ambill10" each cool heads with factual position-by-position comparisons between the two clubs.

The most notable returnee in the most notable series above is the former Cardinals centerfielder with the last name of "Edmonds". Near the top of page two of the thread covering him, "jmodene1" compares the new Cubs centerfielder with former Cardinals star Willie McGee.

The present and future of the Cardinals' top prospect, outfielder Colby Rasmus, remains a hot topic in the now six-page thread entitled simply "Rasmus?". Down page four, the creatively-handled "yohobo" breaks down the salary and contract status of Rasmus' competitors in the St. Louis outfield.

Whether during the off-season and during, the topic of "Top Ten Prospects" is one that can always elicit debate. "SoonerinNC" began the most recent thread on the subject.

" First look at off season 40-man roster" was started by "CariocaCardinal" to analyze the various roster decisions that could be facing the Cardinals in bringing up players this season and making changes over the upcoming off-season. Of course, others have weighed in with their thoughts. You should, too!

In recognition of that post, "CariocaCardinal" is our winner of the "Post of the Week". He collects a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
