Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.
This article covers the week ending Saturday, July 26.
In the thread called "Following in Ankiel's Footsteps", "bicyclemike" followed up the initial post with a comparison between the current Cardinals centerfielder and old-timer Smoky Joe Wood, another converter from pitcher to hitter.
On the third page of the thread, "Carpenter gets first test with Springfield start", "Sawatski" provided an excellent scouting report of Chris Carpenter's first rehab outing.
Near the bottom of page one of the discussion entitled "Listening to 550 ktrs after the game", "Beopig" takes a look at team payrolls this decade to prove money and winning do not always go hand in hand.
"WillEvans" offered a positional-based analysis of "Cardinals Farm System Breakdown OPS splits". This generated several pages of good discussion.
"SydneyDave" offered an analysis of the date of players' MLB debuts vs. the number of career at-bats they eventually achieve on page two of a five-page thread entitled "Minor League system rankings". The thought is that some of the Cardinals' recently-recalled older minor league offensive players statistically-speaking may not experience long MLB careers.
The Cardinals' recent losing streak along with a lack of visible trade results has many uneasy or upset. The "Official overreaction thread", now seven pages long, provided a way for some to vent, others to complain and yet others to complain about the complainers. On page five, "forsch31" reminded everyone why the 2008 Cardinals season should be considered successful.
"Remaining Schedule – Cardinals, Cubs and Brewers" is a thread started by "ambill10" to look at the various combinations of games remaining across the schedules of the three top NL Central combatants.
One of the most important positions on a club is shortstop, a place where the Cardinals have some good prospects. "An Organizational SS Overview" was begun by "ambill10", looking at ten top shortstops in the Cardinals system from the MLB level right on down.
In recognition of those two posts, "ambill10" is our winner of the "Post of the Week". He collects a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
