The Gulf Coast League Cardinals were unable to gain a victory over the past week, losing the six games they played. During the current streak, the team has been outscored by a margin of 49 to 21. With a record of 15-33, the best the team can finish is 10 games below .500.

Andres Rosales was sent down from
Dominican Summer League star Angel Cruz was added to the GCL roster and the tandem rotation. His introduction was rude, with nine runs yielded in his first 4.1 innings.
Outfielder Ryde Rodriguez is showing why the Cardinals spent big dollars on him during the past off-season. The 20-year-old is hitting .366 in 11 games in August. Catcher Juan Castillo is batting .310 over his last 10 games.
After hitting .317 in July, outfielder Devin Shepherd is hitting just .172 in his last eight games. Outfielder Rainel Rosario is batting .190 in his last 12 games and is striking out in a third of his at bats.
The Cardinals pitching staff as a whole is really struggling.
With a record of 15-33, the Cardinals rank fifth in the Eastern Division and are only two games away from having the worst record in the Gulf Coast League.
The Cardinals have posted a 5.56 ERA as a team, the worst mark in the 16-team league. Jose Rada has allowed the most earned runs in the GCL.
With a .236 team batting average, the Cards rank 15th in the league.
The Cardinals have only eight games left to try in which to build some momentum heading in to the instructional league. Half of the team's remaining games are at home with two games left to play with the first-place Dodgers.
