Cards Message Board Post of the Week: 8/23/08

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over. "CariocaCardinal" is our 149th weekly winner!

As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our Scout.com St. Louis Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, August 23.

Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse received a five-game suspension for throwing near the head of Cincinnati pitcher Edinson Volquez. "RCWarrior" put the situation into context for those who couldn't understand why there was a suspension when there had been no ejection. The thread is "Lohse suspended 5 games – will appeal".

Regular poster "Jmodene1" took a look at Cardinals starter Braden "Looper's Recent Success". This led to a good discussion about the team's possible off-season plans for their upcoming free agent starting pitchers.

One of the strong points of this community is the use of hard facts to refute (or defend) emotional pronouncements. Such is the case when "kotheb" dismantled the assertion "Why does TLR just give up the last game (of a series)?" by simply showing the lineups in such games.

In a thread called "question about bonuses in LA", "CariocaCardinal" did a fine job explaining the benefits and disadvantages to the player and to the club if a prospect is given a major league contract before his abilities demonstrate he is ready.

In recognition of that post, "CariocaCardinal" is our winner of the "Post of the Week". He collects a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
