The Batavia Muckdogs Bulletin: 08/31/08

With six games left, the Batavia Muckdogs sit a half game up in the Pinckney Division of the New York-Penn League. Charlie Cutler is pacing the offense.

Batavia has picked the right time to get hot, winning 12 of its last 16 games.  The highlight of the Labor Day weekend was the Muckdogs hosting Jamestown.  After splitting the two-game set, Batavia holds a slim half-game lead over the Jammers.

In the first game of the series, Batavia sent the team's ace to the hill, Arquimedes Nieto.  It was not to be for the "Dogs" as Jamestown plated six runs off the 19-year-old to saddle him with his first loss of the season.

The home team bounced back to pull out the victory on Sunday with Chris Swauger leading the way with two hits and three RBIs.

Who's Hot

Charlie Cutler is hitting .441 in his last nine games to push his batting average one point shy of .300.  After struggling mightily initially, Shane Peterson is hitting .417 over his last six games including starting the stretch with three straight multi-hit games.

Who's Not

Xavier Scruggs is hitting only .188 in his last nine while striking out 12 times during that stretch.  Alex Castellanos is hitless in his last 14 at bats.
