Cards Message Board Post of the Week: 9/28/08

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over. "Jmodene1" is our 154th weekly winner!

As we do each and every week here at, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our St. Louis Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, September 27.

An annual long-running thread and arguably the most popular and interesting one on our board is the community ranking of the Cardinals top prospects. Any reader can vote for each position as it is filled, in a process that requires several months to complete.

One of our board historians, "Oquendo11", went back and compared the top picks of each of the last three years in the supporting thread called "Change in prospect ranking in community prospect list" and is keeping it updated as new selections are being made.

To participate in the voting for the top Cardinals prospects, head over here. The up-to-date ranking is on page 1 and the current voting is on the last page of that thread. Join the fun! Everyone is welcome.

Several discussions related to the top prospect list have sprung up around it. One such concept is focused on soliciting readers' views of their rankings of players within a particular position. "CariocaCardinal" began a thread focusing on the Cardinals' minor league outfielders.

On page two of the thread, "Community Top 50 Bonus List - Outfielders", "BobReed" offered not only his list, but added some very solid reasons why he ranked his players as he did. Good thought-provoking reading.

"30/100/100" is a thread devoted to discussion about and celebration of outfielder Ryan Ludwick's breakout 2008 season. On page two, "Jmodene1" makes a pair of strong posts comparing Ludwick's minor league stats to his MLB production, with the fact-based conclusion that Luddy's year was not a fluke.

In recognition of that pair of posts, "Jmodene1" is our winner of the "Post of the Week and he collects a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
