Hawaii Winter League

 

Jim Rapoport (Springfield): Starter in center field and batted 7th.  0-for-3 with one strikeout (looking).

 

Honolulu scored two in the top of the 9th take the lead and beat West Oahu 4-2: link

The Sharks improve to 11-4-1 and have a four-game lead over the second best team in the league.

Shane Robinson (Memphis): Started in center field and batted leadoff.  1-for-4 with one RBI.

 

Brett Wallace (Springfield): Started as designated hitter and batted 5th.  1-for-4 with one double, scored one run, one walk, and struck out twice.  (Runners left in scoring position with 2-outs: 1)

 

Peoria Saguaros beat Phoenix 8-2: link

 

The Saguaros improve to 8-1 and have a three-game lead over the second place team in the league.

Wednesday's recaps:

 

Luke Gregerson (Margarita-Springfield): Entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  Allowed one hit, no runs, threw one wild pitch, and struck out two en route to a win.  (ground out-fly out:1-0)

 

Jose Martinez (Aragua-Springfield): Started at shortstop and batted 9th.  0-for-3 and assisted in one double play.

Margarita scored two in the 9th for a 3-1 win over Aragua: link

 

Jose Rada (GCL): Did not pitch for Zulia.

Zulia scored four in the 9th to beat La Guaira 6-2: link

 

Thursday's games:

 

Rico Washington (Memphis-free agent): Started in left field and batted 4th.  1-for-3 with one run scored, one walk, one hit by pitch, one stolen base, and two strikeouts (swinging).

 

David Freese (Memphis): Started at third base and batted 7th.  2-for-4 with one double, one run scored, and struck out once (swinging).

Caribes scored the go-ahead run in the 8th and held off Caracas 6-5: link

Luke Gregerson (Springfield): Entered in the 8th and pitched one inning.  Allowed no hits or runs, walked one, and struck out one.

And all other games look to have been suspended for Thursday.

July 2nd signings on the roster: Jose Weffer, Sergio Nieves, and Gerwuins Velazco.

 

Also included on the roster are a few that were listed on the Aragua roster that I posted yesterday: Ruben Alvarado (VSL), Deimer Bier (VSL), and Eduardo Sanchez (Quad Cities).

Puerto Rican League

Begins play November 6.

 

Ex-Memphis Redbirds outfielder Armando Rios has confirmed he will play for Gigantes de Carolina.  In the same article, the team has announced Memphis  catcher Bryan Anderson will be joining the team and Cardinals' catcher Yadier Molina has until mid-December to report before his contract is up: link

 

Money continues to be short in the league, as Criollos de Caguas can not afford to pay New York Mets' prospect Nelson Figueroa to join the team: link

 

Tentatively expected to play: Juan Gonzalez (Memphis-free agent).
