Cards Message Board Post of the Week: 10/19

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over. "CariocaCardinal" is our 157th weekly winner!

As we do each and every week here at, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our St. Louis Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, October 18.

One of the most active areas of the board year-round and especially in the off-season is where the community members discuss "TRADES/RUMORS/TRADE IDEAS". On this thread, any idea is welcome. It could be a rumor you're repeating or just something you came up with by yourself out of the blue. On page 19, "thejager" compares what prospects the Atlanta Braves might have to offer the San Diego Padres for Jake Peavy and Khalil Greene with what the Cardinals might be willing to ante up.

Last week, the Cardinals made their first official off-season acquisition when they claimed left-handed reliever Charlie Manning off waivers from Washington. In the related thread, "Cardinals Add Left-Handed Reliever", "kotheb" looked at the pros and cons of the move as well as comparing Manning's stats with the incumbents from the 2008 Cardinals pen.

A very interesting and discussion-provoking thread was begun this past week by "CariocaCardinal". In "2009 Memphis/Springfield/Palm Beach/QC Projected Line-ups", one projection of beginning-of-season 2009 rosters was laid out across the Cardinals four full-season minor league clubs. When the music stopped, there were many, many without chairs in which to sit.

In recognition of starting that solid thread, "CariocaCardinal" is our winner of the "Post of the Week. He collects a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
