The Cardinals Winter League Notebook: 10/28

Brett Wallace's home run and three RBI in Arizona led Monday's St. Louis Cardinals prospects news in winter ball.

Hawaii Winter League

 

Honolulu Sharks (13-8-1) had Monday off, welcome in division rival Waikiki (10-11-1) Tuesday @ 7:00pm HT.

 

Tony Cruz (Palm Beach) is batting .417 with seven doubles, one triple, eight RBIs, four walks, eight runs, .453 OBP, .604 SLG, and 1.057 OPS.

 

Jim Rapoport (Springfield) is batting .281 with one double, two home runs, eight RBIs, nine walks, ten runs, .379 OBP, .404 SLG, and .782 OPS.

 

Blake King (Palm Beach) has made nine relief appearances posting a 2.92 ERA, allowing seven hits, four earned runs, 13 walks, and striking out nine over 12.1 innings.

 

Tyler Herron (Springfield) has made three relief appearances posting a 2.45 ERA, allowing six hits, five runs (one earned), five walks, and striking out three over 3.2 innings.

Arizona Fall League

 

Shane Robinson (Memphis): Started in centerfield and batted leadoff.  0-for-4 with one RBI, one run, two walks, one stolen base, one strikeout (swinging), and ground into one double play.  (Runners left in scoring position with 2-outs: 2)

 

Brett Wallace (Springfield): Started at third base and batted 2nd.  1-for-4 with one home run, three RBIs (two with two-outs), two runs, one walk, and two strikeouts (looking and swinging).  Wallace mishandled a ball in the second inning letting a runner get aboard, but he didn't score.

 

Peoria Saguaros scored eight in the 2nd inning and added on five more to beat Mesa 13-2: link

The Saguaros improve to 12-5 and have a one game lead over Mesa for the top record in the league.

Jose Martinez (Springfield) is batting .118 with two doubles, two runs, four total bases, .118 OBP, .235 SLG, and .353 OPS.

David Freese (Memphis) is batting .265 with two doubles, one home run, two RBIs, three walks, two runs, .324 OBP, .412 SLG, and .736 OPS.
Rico Washington (Memphis-free agent) is batting .167 with one RBI, four walks, one run, .310 OBP, .167 SLG, and .477 OPS.

Anthony Fonseca (VSL): Pinch hit and took over right field for Jose Cortez (VSL), batting leadoff.  1-for-1 with one two-out RBI and one walk.

Ted Obregon (GCL): Started at second base and batted 2nd.  1-for-3 with one double.

Alberto Rivero (VSL): Started in centerfield and batted 3rd.  2-for-4 at the plate.

Peter Jaspe (VSL): Started in left field and batted 9th.  1-for-3 with one two-out RBI, one walk, and two strikeouts.

Javier Avendano (VSL): Started and pitched five innings.  Allowed seven hits, two unearned runs, two walks, and struck out three.  (ground out-fly out: 4-5)

Fabian Marquez (VSL): Followed Avendano and pitched three innings.  Allowed one hit, no runs, threw one wild pitch, and struck out three en route to his third win in Parallel league play.  (ground out-fly out: 3-3)

Francisco Guzman (VSL): Followed Marquez and pitched the final inning.  Allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out one en route to his fourth save in Parallel League play.  (ground out-fly out: 1-1)

Colombian League

 

Donovan Solano (Springfield): Had a hit and scored a run.

Begins play November 6.
