Hawaii Winter League


Jim Rapoport (Palm Beach): Pinch ran for Colorado Rockies' prospect Darin Holcomb.


Tony Cruz (Palm Beach): Pinch hit for Rockies' prospect Lars Davis.  0-for-1 at the plate.  (Runners left in scoring position with 2-outs: 2)


Blake King (Palm Beach): Entered in the sixth and pitched to five batters.  Allowed three hits, two earned runs, one walk, and struck out one while picking up his second blown save.  (pitches-strikes: 27-13) (inherited runners-scored: 1-1)


Honolulu got ahead early and blew the game in the 6th, losing 12-9 to Waikiki: link

The Sharks fall to 13-9-1 and have a two-game lead over Waikiki in the East Division.

Peoria Saguaros blew the game early and lost 10-1 to Mesa: link

Rico Washington (Memphis-free agent): Started in left field and batted 8th.  0-for-2 with one walk.

Ex-Springfield Cardinal Jose Garcia pitched two scoreless innings giving up only a hit.

Caribes struggled getting runs across and lost a close game 3-1 to Caracas: link


Luke Gregerson (Springfield): Entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  Allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out two en route to his second win in VWL play.  (ground out-fly out:0-1)

Ron Flores (Memphis-free agent): Did not pitch for Margarita.

Margarita scored in the later innings to beat La Guaira 4-2: link

Jose Martinez (Springfield) and Jose Rada (GCL): Aragua had Tuesday off.

Ronny Cedeno of the Chicago Cubs is expected to join Aragua starting Wednesday, October 29.  He probably will take playing time away from Martinez, as he did last season.

Cesar Izturis (St. Louis-free agent): Expected to join Lara in November.

Mark Worrell (Memphis); Tentatively expected to join Zulia.


Venezuelan Parallel League


Kevin Moscatel (GCL): Entered mid-game taking over at first base and batting 6th.  0-for-2 at the plate.

Caribes scored early and haulted a Pittsburgh comeback, winning 8-4: link


Ted Obregon (GCL): Started at second base and batted 2nd.  2-for-3 with one stolen base and one strikeout.

Alberto Rivero (VSL): Started in centerfield and batted 3rd.  0-for-3 with one run and one strikeout.

Roberto Perez (VSL): Started as designated hitter and batted 5th.  2-for-3 with one strikeout.

Roberto Espinoza (Quad Cities): Started at first base and batted 6th.  0-for-3 with one RBI.

Yonathan Gonzalez (VSL): Started and lasted 2.1 innings.  Allowed two hits, three runs (two earned), four walks, hit one batter, had one balk, and struck out two en route to his first loss.  (ground out-fly out:3-2)
