Hawaii Winter League

 

One day left in regular season.

 

Tony Cruz (Palm Beach): Started as designated hitter and batted 4th.  0-for-4 at the plate.  (Runners left in scoring position with 2-outs: 2)

Jim Rapoport (Springfield): Started in centerfield and batted 7th.  0-for-4 with two strikeouts (swinging).

 

Honolulu beat Waikiki 4-1: link

The Sharks improve to 17-17-2 and are a half game out of first, behind Waikiki

Honolulu welcomes Waikiki (18-17-1) Saturday @ 7:30pm HT.  Honolulu owns the series 9-6.  This is a make or break game for the playoff spot.

Arizona Fall League

 

Five days left in regular season.

 

Brett Wallace (Springfield): Started at third base and batted 3rd.  1-for-5 with one double, one run, three strikeouts (swinging), and ground into one double play.

Tyler Greene (Memphis): Started at second base and batted 5th.  2-for-4 with two two-out RBIs, two runs, one walk, and one strikeout (looking).

 

Peoria Saguaros shut out Scottsdale 8-0: link

The Saguaros improve to 22-11 and are in a two-way tie with Mesa a top the American Division.

Mexican Pacific League

Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent): Entered in the seventh and pitched 1.1 innings.  Allowed one hit, no runs, one walk, and struck out one.  (ground out-fly out: 2-1)

Former Cardinal Andy Cavazos struck out the only two batters faced for Obregon.

Obregon scored three in the 8th and held off Hermosillo for a 6-4 victory: link

Obregon (11-19) hosts Hermosillo (15-15) Saturday @ 7:30pm MST.


Francisco Rivera (Quad Cities): Currently on the Culiacan disabled list.

Jason Motte (St. Louis): Tentatively expected to pitch for Hermosillo.

 

Venezuelan League

 

Luke Gregerson (Springfield): Entered in the seventh and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed no hits or runs, and walked two (one intentional).  (ground out-fly out:1-3)

Jose Martinez (Springfield) and Jose Rada (GCL): Did not play for Aragua.

Aragua scored in the first and blew the game 7-2 to Zulia: link

Aragua (10-12) hosts Caribes (13-14) Saturday @ 5:30pm VST.

 

Former Springfield Cardinal Jose Garcia pitched two hit less and scoreless innings for Caribes.

Former Memphis Redbird Orber Moreno struck out two of three batters for Caracas.

Ron Flores (Memphis-free agent) was dismissed from Margarita for his lack of performance.

Cesar Izturis (St. Louis-free agent): Expected to join Lara in the coming weeks.

D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Started at third base and batted 9th.  1-for-2 with one two-out RBI, one run, and two walks.  he also committed a fielding error in the sixth, one run scored on the play and another scored later in the inning.

Puerto Rican League

 

Rigoberto Lugo (Batavia) and Felipe Lopez (St. Louis-free agent): Did not play for Santurce.

Santurce scored three in the 3rd and held off Mayaguez for a 3-2 win: link

 

Bryan Anderson (Memphis): Started at catcher and batted 8th.  0-for-2 with one RBI, one walk, one hit by pitch, and two strikeouts (swinging).  He also threw out one runner in the second inning.

P.J. Walters (Memphis), Luis Mateo (Johnson City), and Yadier Molina (St. Louis-December): Did not play for Carolina.

Carolina scored early, but Ponce jumped on top later in the game to win 5-3: link
