The Cardinals Winter League Notebook: 11/18

Shane Robinson's game-winning RBI in Arizona headlines Monday's St. Louis Cardinals prospects news in winter ball.

Arizona Fall League

 

Three games left in the regular season.

 

Shane Robinson (Memphis): Started in centerfield and batted leadoff.  1-for-5 with one RBI and one strikeout (looking).  Robinson drove in the winning run with a single to center.

Brett Wallace (Springfield): Started at third base and batted 3rd.  1-for-3 with one double, one RBI, one run, and one walk.  Assisted in one double play.

Tyler Greene (Memphis): Pinch ran for NY Mets prospect Josh Thole and scored a run.

Tyler Norrick (Palm Beach): Entered in the fifth and pitched one inning, picking up his fourth hold in league play.  Faced three batters, striking one out and inducing two fly outs.

 

Peoria Saguaros scored one run in the ninth to beat Phoenix 4-3: link

The Saguaros improve to 24-11 and are still tied with Mesa in first place in the American Division.

Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent) has made 15 appearances (one start) posting a 1-1 record, 6.23 ERA, and two holds.  He's allowed 16 hits, ten runs (nine earned), one home run, six walks, and striking out nine over 13 innings.

Obregon (11-21) had Monday off, visit Culiacan (13-19) Tuesday @ 7:30pm MST.

Francisco Rivera (Quad Cities): Currently on the Culiacan disabled list.

Jason Motte (St. Louis): Tentatively expected to pitch for Hermosillo.

 

Venezuelan League

 

Jose Martinez (Springfield) is batting .118 with two doubles, four total bases, two runs, .118 OBP, .235 SLG, and a .353 OPS in six games.

Jose Rada (GCL) has made six relief appearances posting a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA.  He's allowed five hits, no runs, four walks, and struck out five over ten innings.

Aguilas (15-11) had Monday off and their game at Azucareros (15-11) was canceled for Tuesday.

Playing for Barranquilla:

Donovan Solano (Springfield) is batting .358 (24-for-67) with eight doubles, one home run, eight RBIs, 18 runs, 35 total bases, .522 SLG, .482 OBP, 1.004 OBS, and ten strikeouts in 18 games.  He's committed four errors all at shortstop.

Alexander Castellano (DSL) is batting .150 (3-for-20) with two runs, three total bases, .150 SLG, .227 OBP, .377 OBS, eight strikeouts in nine games.  He's committed three errors in left field and none in center field.

Casey Mulligan (Palm Beach) made three relief appearances posting a 8.78 ERA.  He allowed four hits, four earned runs, one walk, and struck out three over 4.1 innings.  Opponents were batting .286 against him.

Adam Daniels (Lincoln-A.A.) has made four starts posting a 1-0 record and 2.56 ERA.  He's allowed ten hits, seven runs (six earned), one balk, six walks, and struck out 19 over 21.1 innings.  He also has one shutout under his belt and opponents are batting .154 against him.  Daniels has committed one error while in the field.

Ryan Bird (Instructional) has made four starts posting a 1-0 record and 1.17 ERA.  He's allowed seven hits, three earned runs, four walks, and struck out 15 over 23 innings.  Opponents are batting .097 against him.

 

Puerto Rican League

 

League had Monday off.

 

Rigoberto Lugo (Batavia) has made one relief appearance giving up no hits, one unearned run, one walk, and striking out one over one inning.

Luis Mateo (Johnson City) is 1-for-3 with one total base and two runs in three games.

Bryan Anderson (Memphis) is 3-for-14 with two RBIs, three total bases, two runs, .421 OBP, .214 SLG, and .635 OPS in seven games.

P.J. Walters (Memphis) has made three starts posting an 0-1 record and 4.22 ERA.  He's allowed 13 hits, six runs (five earned), three walks, and struck out 16 over 10.2 innings.

Yadier Molina (St. Louis) is expected to join Carolina in December.
