Arizona Fall League

 

Final Stats:

Brett Wallace (Springfield) batted .309 with eight doubles, six home runs, 24 RBIs, 55 total bases, 22 runs, nine walks, 27 strikeouts, .381 OBP, .585 SLG, and .966 OPS in 24 games.

Steven Hill (Palm Beach-taxi squad) batted .304 with five doubles, three home runs, 13 RBIs, 28 total bases, six runs, six walks, 13 strikeouts, .382 OBP, .609 SLG, and .991 OPS in 13 games.

Tyler Greene (Memphis) batted .287 with six doubles, two triples, three home runs, 13 RBIs, 44 total bases, 24 runs, one stolen base, eight walks, 29 strikeouts, .380 OBP, .506 SLG, and .886 OPS in 23 games.

Shane Robinson (Memphis) batted .280 with eight doubles, two home runs, 24 RBIs, 44 total bases, 27 runs, eight stolen bases, 16 walks, 13 strikeouts, .372 OBP, .411 SLG, and .783 OPS in 26 games.

 

Adam Ottavino (Springfield) made eight starts posting a 3-1 record and 6.17 ERA.  He allowed 33 hits, 21 runs (16 earned), three home runs, ten walks, and struck out 25 over 23.1 innings.

Tyler Norrick (Palm Beach) made 13 relief appearances posting a 1-0 record, 7.88 ERA, and four holds.  He allowed 23 hits, 17 runs (14 earned), five home runs, eight walks, and struck out 20 over 16 innings.

Brad Furnish (Springfield) made 12 relief appearances posting a 7.47 ERA and two holds.  He allowed 20 hits, 14 runs (13 earned), seven walks, and struck out 12 over 15.2 innings.

Justin Fiske (Springfield) made ten relief appearances posting an 0-2 record, 4.91 ERA, and one hold.  He allowed 14 hits, nine runs (six earned), one home run, five walks, and struck out eight over 11 innings.  This coming after he started the winter season late with shoulder soreness.

 

Mexican Pacific League

 

Second half of the season begins.

 

Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent): Did not pitch for Obregon.

Former Memphis Redbird Iker Franco was activated on the Obregon roster.

 

Two former Cardinal prospects, in Mike McCoy and Reid Gorecki both combined for an 0-for-8 night with two strikeouts and one walk for Navojoa.

 

Obregon lost to Navojoa 4-3: link

Obregon (12-24) welcome Navojoa (18-18) Saturday @ 7:30pm MST.

 

Francisco Rivera (Quad Cities): Still on the Culiacan disabled list.

Jason Motte (St. Louis): Tentatively expected to pitch for Hermosillo.

 

Venezuelan League

 

Former Memphis Redbird Mike Smith gave up two hits, one run, four walks, and struck out five en route to his third win for Caribes: link

 

Luke Gregerson (Springfield): Did not pitch for Margarita.

Margarita gave up five runs and the game in the seventh in a 7-2 loss to Lara: link

Margarita (13-17) visits Caracas (21-9) Saturday @ 2:30pm VST.

 

Jose Rada (GCL): Entered in the eighth and pitched two innings.  Allowed three hits, one earned run, one home run, and struck out three.

Jose Martinez (Springfield): Did not play for Aragua.

Aragua jumped in front early and doubled up Zulia 10-5: link

Aragua (13-15) visits Zulia (16-18) Saturday @ 1:00pm VST.

 

Cesar Izturis (St. Louis-free agent): Expected to join Lara in the coming weeks.

Mark Worrell (Memphis): Tentatively expected to join Zulia.

 

Venezuelan Parallel League

 

No games posted for Friday.

Dominican Republic League

 

Amaury Marti (Memphis): Started in right field and batted 5th.  0-for-2 with one RBI, one sac fly, one walk, and one strikeout (swinging).  Marti drove in the lead run in the bottom of the eighth.

D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Started at third base and batted 7th.  0-for-3 with one walk and one strikeout (looking).

 

Luis Perdomo (Springfield): Did not pitch for Aguilas.

 

Licey scored two in the eighth and held off Aguilas 4-3: link

 

Aguilas (16-12) visits Azucareros (16-11) Saturday @ 7:30pm AST.

Licey (18-11) welcome Estrellas (6-22) Saturday @ 7:30pm AST.

 


Colombian League

 

More news coming out on the brawl between Sincelejo and Monteria on Wednesday.  It started out as a beaning in the fourth and when Nick Derba (Palm Beach) was run over at home plate in the sixth, things went wild.  Pete Parise (Palm Beach) was on the mound and was also involved in the main part of the fight.  He was ejected along with Derba and six others: link (pictures included!)

 

Monteria beat Barranquilla 10-7.

Thursday's rainout between Sincelejo and Monteria will be played next Wednesday, as a doubleheader: link

 

Casey Rowlett (Springfield) has returned back home from league play.

 

Also participating: Donovan Solano (Springfield), Alexander Castellano (DSL), Ryan Bird (Instructional), and Davis Bilardello (Palm Beach).

 

Puerto Rican League

 

Rigoberto Lugo (Batavia): Did not pitch for Santurce.

Ex-Cardinal John Rodriguez had a triple and RBI for Santurce.

 

Bryan Anderson (Memphis): Pinch hit for the catcher in the ninth, batting 9th.  1-for-1 with one stolen base.

P.J. Walters (Memphis): Started and pitched five innings.  Allowed eight hits, five earned runs, one home run, two walks, hit one batter, and struck out two en route to his second loss in league play.  (ground out-fly out: 6-5)

Luis Mateo (Johnson City) and Yadier Molina (St. Louis-December): Did not play for Carolina.

Former Memphis Redbird Armando Rios had a triple and an RBI for Carolina.

 

Carolina manager Jose Oquendo (St. Louis) was ejected in the sixth after a confrontation with the home plate umpire.

 

Santurce scored four in the fifth and held off Carolina for a 7-3 victory: link


Carolina (4-8) visits Ponce (5-6) Saturday @ 7:30pm AST.

Santurce (7-5) welcomes Mayaguez (4-7) Saturday @ 7:30pm AST.
