Abbamondi was well-known among baseball insiders, but was an unknown quantity to The Cardinal Nation. He had earned his spurs during four years working for Major League Baseball in New York, most recently in their Labor Relations Department.
There, Abbamondi was heavily involved with clubs on salary arbitration, player contracts and negotiations along with revenue sharing matters. He was a key member behind the scenes as MLB hammered out the 2006 Basic Agreement with the Players Union and helped develop MLB's revenue sharing system.
That extensive experience positioned him well to move to a team executive role in Baseball Operations. When Mozeliak made the call to ask him to join the Cardinals, Abbamondi jumped at the chance.
In this exclusive interview, Abbamondi discusses how his past experiences helped prepare him for his current job, the nature of his current duties supporting Mozeliak and the Cardinals and much more.
