Luke Gregerson's 14 consecutive scoreless outings in Venezuela headline Sunday's St. Louis Cardinals prospects news in winter ball.

Mexican Pacific League

 

Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent): Did not pitch for Obregon.

Ex-Memphis Redbird Reggie Taylor legged out two triples for Obregon.

Obregon shut out Navojoa 9-0: link

The league has Monday off.  Obregon (14-24) visits Mochis (23-15) Tuesday @ 7:30pm MST.

 

Francisco Rivera (Quad Cities): Still on the Culiacan disabled list.

Jason Motte (St. Louis): Tentatively expected to pitch for Hermosillo.

 

Veracruz Instructional League

 

Joe Rogers (Memphis): Did not pitch for Minatitlan.

Minatitlan lost to Tuxtas 3-0 (no box score)

 

Venezuelan League

 

League had Sunday off.

 

Luke Gregerson (Springfield) has made 14 relief appearances posting a 2-0 record, 0.00 ERA, and six holds.  He's allowed nine hits, no runs, five walks, and struck out 12 over 15.1 innings.

Margarita (13-19) also takes Monday off, welcome Caracas (22-9) Tuesday @ 8:00pm VST.

 

Jose Martinez (Springfield) is batting .118 with two doubles, two runs, four total bases, three strikeouts, .118 OBP, .235 SLG, and a .353 OPS in six games.

Jose Rada (GCL) has made seven relief appearances posting a 2-0 record and 0.75 ERA.  He's allowed eight hits, one earned run, one home run, four walks, and struck out eight over 12 innings.

Aragua (13-15) hosts Caracas (22-9) Monday @ 7:30pm VST.

Gerardo Mannbel (VSL) is batting .296 with three doubles, five RBIs, 19 total bases, seven runs, seven walks, one strikeout, four stolen bases, .415 OBP, and .352 SLG in 22 games.

Billy Bolivar (VSL) is batting .292 with two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, 19 total bases, nine runs, 11 walks, ten strikeouts, .426 OBP, and .396 SLG in 25 games.

Geney Rios (VSL) has made four starts posting a 2.93 ERA.  He's allowed 14 hits, five earned runs, one home run, seven walks, and struck out eight over 15.1 innings.

Yonathan Gonzalez (VSL) has made four starts posting a 1-2 record and 2.93 ERA.  He's allowed 17 hits, seven runs (five earned), one home run, six walks, and struck out nine over 15.1 innings.

Fabian Marquez (VSL) has made seven relief appearances posting a 3-0 record and 1.06 ERA.  He's allowed 13 hits, three runs (two earned), one home run, four walks, and struck out 13 over 17 innings.

Eduardo Sanchez (Quad Cities) has made six relief appearances posting a 1-0 record, 2.25 ERA, and two saves.  He's allowed five hits, four runs (two earned), two walks, and struck out 15 over eight innings.  (Sanchez also has a 1-0 record and 9.00 ERA in two games with Aragua)

 

Playing for Aragua:

Domnit Bolivar (Quad Cities) is batting .321 with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 14 RBIs, 30 total bases, nine runs, five walks, 13 strikeouts, two stolen bases, .373 OBP, and .566 SLG in 21 games.

Jose Garcia (Batavia) is batting .286 with four doubles, two home runs, 21 total bases, 15 runs, 11 walks, six strikeouts, two stolen bases, .426 OBP, and .490 SLG in 22 games.

Frederick Parejo (Batavia) is batting .250 with six doubles, nine RBIs, 23 total bases, six runs, eight walks, eight strikeouts, .325 OBP, and .338 SLG in 22 games.

 

Jose Calero (GCL) has made 10 appearances (one start) posting a 3-1 record and 3.18 ERA.  He's allowed 24 hits, 13 runs (eight earned), one home run, nine walks, and struck out 19 over 22.2 innings.

Reynier Gonzalez (Johnson City) has made eight appearances (two starts) posting a 1.47 ERA and one save.  He's allowed 18 hits, three earned runs, one home run, four walks, and struck out 17 over 18.1 innings.

Pablo Ortiz (GCL) has made nine relief appearances posting a 3-0 record, 1.84 ERA, and two saves.  He's allowed seven hits, three earned runs, six walks, and struck out 14 over 14.2 innings.

 

Cardinals' prospects playing for Caribes are not performing too well and not worth noting at this time.

Venezuelan Parallel Western League

 

Richard Castillo (Quad Cities) has made nine appearances (four starts) posting a 2-0 record, 2.75 ERA, and one save.  He's allowed 24 hits, 12 runs (11 earned), two home runs, 12 walks (one intentional), and struck out 38 over 36 innings for Marineros-Lara.  Opponents are batting .197 vs. Castillo and he's frozen 13 of 38 strikeout victims. 

 

Jose Penaloza (GCL) has made eight relief appearances posting an 0-2 record, 6.32 ERA, one save, finishing six of those games off.  He's allowed 19 hits, 13 runs (11 earned), five walks, thrown five wild pitches, and struck out 19 over 15.2 innings for Zulia.  Opponents are batting .292 vs. Penaloza.

Dominican Republic League

 

Amaury Marti (Memphis): Started in left field and batted 5th.  1-for-4 with two strikeouts (swinging).

D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Started at third base and batted 7th.  1-for-4 with one strikeout (swinging).

 

Luis Perdomo (Springfield): Did not pitch for Aguilas.

 

Aguilas shut out Licey 5-0: link

 

Former Springfield Cardinal Juan Richardson hit a two-run shot for Estrellas.

Former Memphis Redbird Nerio Rodriguez struck out seven over six innings and picked up the win for Escogido.

Prior to his recent elbow surgery, Albert Pujols reportedly planned to play the final ten games of the season for the Cibao Gigantes. That plan is now off. link

 

Colombian League

 

Monteria and Barranquilla was suspended due to rain, and could be made up in December.

Puerto Rican League

 

Rigoberto Lugo (Batavia): Did not pitch for Santurce.

 

Bryan Anderson (Memphis), P.J. Walters (Memphis), Luis Mateo (Johnson City), and Yadier Molina (St. Louis-December): Did not play for Carolina.

 

Carolina scored six in the sixth and held off Santurce for a 7-4 victory: link

 

Both Santurce and Carolina have Monday off.

Santurce (8-6) hosts Arecibo (8-3) Tuesday @ 7:30pm AST.
