Mexican Pacific League


Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent): Entered in the eighth and pitched to three batters.  Allowed one hit, two earned runs, and one walk picking up his third hold and second loss in league play.  (ground out-fly out:1-0)

Former Memphis Redbird Iker Franco hit a solo home run for Obregon.

Obregon gave up five runs in the eight and never recovered losing 6-2 to Mochis: link

Veracruz Instructional League (Mexico)

Joe Rogers (Memphis): Did not pitch for Minatitlan.

Minatitlan and Mixtequilla ended in a 1-1 tie: link

Luke Gregerson (Springfield): Did not pitch for Margarita.

Ex-Memphis Redbird Matt Perisho replaces Former Cardinals prospect Justin Pope on the Margarita roster.  Pope was having arm problems, so the Philadelphia Phillies pulled him from winter play.

Margarita (13-19) hosts Caracas (22-10) Wednesday @ 8:00pm VST.


Cesar Izturis (St. Louis-free agent): Started at shortstop and batted leadoff.  1-for-4 with one strikeout (swinging).  Assisted in one double play and committed a fielding error in the third inning,  letting a runner get aboard but not scoring.

Lara shut out Magallanes 2-0: link

Lara (19-16) visits La Guaira (18-15) Wednesday @ 7:20pm VST.


Jose Rada (GCL): Entered in the sixth and pitched three innings.  Allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out two.

Jose Martinez (Springfield): Did not play for Aragua.

Venezuelan Parallel League


Frederick Parejo (Batavia): Started in centerfield and batted 9th.  2-for-3 with one run.

Omar Diaz (GCL): Started and pitched two innings.  Allowed three hits, four runs (one earned), three walks, and struck out three en route to his second loss in league play.

Pablo Ortiz (GCL): Followed Diaz and pitched three innings.  Allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck out one.  (ground out-fly out: 6-1)

Aragua gave up four runs in the first and lost to Leones 5-2 in game 1 of a doubleheader: link


Ismael Cardona (Batavia): Started at catcher and batted 8th.  1-for-2 with one two-out RBI and one strikeout.

Alberto Rivero (VSL): Started in centerfield and batted 3rd.  1-for-4 with one double and one run.

Roberto Espinoza (Quad Cities): Started as catcher and batted 5th.  3-for-4 with one double, one RBI, one run, and one strikeout.  Allowed three stolen bases and threw one out.

Roberto Perez (VSL):  Took over mid-game at first base for Hector Garcia (VSL), batting 6th.  1-for-1 with one RBI.

Wilson Perez (VSL): Took over mid-game for Cristofher Dumont in right field, batting 7th.  1-for-2 with one double, one two-out RBI, and two runs.

Osmir Medina (VSL): Took over mid-game for Heyrich Martina (DSL) as designated hitter, batting 8th.  2-for-2 with one two-out RBI and one run.

Cesar Valera (July 2nd Signing): Started at shortstop and batted 9th.  2-for-3 with one double, two RBIs, one run, and one strikeout.

Javier Avendano (VSL): Started and pitched three innings.  Allowed three hits, no runs, one walk, and struck out four.  (ground out-fly out: 2-2)

Miguel Lopez (VSL): Followed Avendano and pitched three innings.  Allowed three hits, one earned run, one walk, hit one batter, and struck out four.  (ground out-fly out: 3-2) (inherited runners-scored: 1-0)

St. Louis scored eight in the 7th and 8th innings, beating ALB Orkas 8-1: link

Richard Castillo (Quad Cities): Did not pitch for Marineros-Lara.

Jose Penaloza (GCL): Entered in the fifth and pitched two innings.  Allowed four hits, two earned runs, two walks, and struck out two.  (ground out-fly out: 1-3)

Zulia fell behind early and lost to Cleveland 9-6.


Dominican Republic League

Amaury Marti (Memphis): Started as designated hitter and batted 5th.  0-for-3 with one run and one strikeout (swinging).

D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Did not play for Licey.

Ex-Cardinal Ron Belliard made his first winter league appearance, going 2-for-6 with two home runs and six RBIs for Licey.

Licey was doubled up by Gigantes 16-8: link

Luis Perdomo (Springfield): Did not pitch for Aguilas.

Bryan Anderson (Memphis): Started at catcher and batted 7th.  1-for-2 with one walk.  There were five stolen bases on Anderson, including a throwing error in the first inning on an attempted pickoff.  He did however pick one runner off at second in the fifth inning.

P.J. Walters (Memphis), Luis Mateo (Johnson City), and Yadier Molina (St. Louis-December): Did not play for Carolina.
