Mexican Pacific League


Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent): Did not pitch for Obregon.

Former Memphis Redbird Iker Franco hit a solo home run for Obregon.

Francisco Rivera (Quad Cities): Still on the Culiacan disabled list.

Jason Motte (St. Louis): Tentatively expected to pitch for Hermosillo.


Veracruz Instructional League (Mexico)


Joe Rogers (Memphis): Has been penciled in to make his second start Thursday.

Venezuelan League


Luke Gregerson (Springfield): Entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  Allowed three hits, one earned run and one intentional walk.  (pitches-strikes: 15-9) (ground out-fly out: 2-1).

Former Memphis Redbird Matt Perisho made his first winter appearance, in relief for Margarita, striking out the only batter he faced.

Margarita (13-20) has Thursday off, welcome Lara (20-16) Friday @ 8:00pm VT.


Cesar Izturis (St. Louis-free agent): Started at shortstop and batted leadoff.  1-for-5 with one run and one strikeout (swinging).  He committed an error in the fifth inning, letting the batter get on and later scoring.

Lara slipped by LaGuaira in a 22-20 slugfest, in which 12 home runs were hit: link

Venezuelan Parallel League


Osmir Medina (VSL): Started at second base and moved to third, batting leadoff.  2-for-4 with one double, one home run, one RBI, and one run.

Roberto Espinoza (Quad Cities): Started at first base and batted 4th.  1-for-2 with one walk and committed one error.

Limbert Rivas (VSL): Started at catcher and batted 6th.  1-for-3 with one double.  Alowed two stolen bases and threw out one runner.

Moises Colorado (VSL): Started and pitched 3.2 innings.  Allowed one hit, one unearned run, four walks, and struck out three.  (ground out-fly out: 2-5)

Francisco Guzman (VSL): Followed Colorado and pitched 3.1 innings.  Allowed one hit, one earned run, one home run, one walk, threw one wild pitch, and struck out one en route to his fifth loss in league play.  (ground out-fly out: 3-4) (inherited runners-scored: 1-0)

Jose Weffer (July 2nd signing): Followed Guzman and pitched to three batters.  Allowed two hits, one earned run, and one walk.

David Brito (VSL): Followed Weffer and pitched one inning.  Allowed no hits or runs and one walk.  (ground out-fly out:1-1)(inherited runners-scored:3-1)

St. Louis lost 3-1 to Detroit: link


Kevin Moscatel (GCL): Started at catcher and batted 7th.  0-for-2 with one walk and one strikeout.


Juan Lucena (Free Agent): Started at third base and batted 9th.  2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Jorge Rondon (Quad Cities): Entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  Faced three batters inducing one ground out, one fly out, and striking out one.

Venezuelan Parallel Western League


Richard Castillo (Quad Cities): Started game one and pitched six innings.  Allowed two hits, one earned run, two walks, hit one batter, and struck out four en route to his third win in league play.  (ground out-fly out:3-9)

Marineros-Lara beat Cardenales 2-1 in game 1.

Marineros-Lara gave up four runs in the fifth and lost to Cardenales 7-2 in game 2.


Jose Penaloza (GCL): Did not pitch for Zulia; day off Wednesday.


Dominican Republic League


Amaury Marti (Memphis): Started in right field and batted 5th.  1-for-4 with one run and one walk.

D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Did not play for Licey.

Ex-Cardinal Ron Belliard went 2-for-3 and hit a grand slam for Licey.

Ex-Cardinal Timo Perez drove in two runs for Licey.

Former Cardinal prospect Gustavo Martinez made his second relief appearance for Licey.  He pitched one inning giving up no hits, one run, three walks, hitting one batter, and striking out one.

Luis Perdomo (Springfield): Pitches for Aguilas.

Rigoberto Lugo (Batavia): Did not pitch for Santurce.

Ex-Cardinal John Rodriguez is dropped in the batting order and goes 2-for-2 with two walks for Santurce.

P.J. Walters (Memphis): Started and lasted just 3.2 innings.  Allowed seven hits, five runs (four earned), one home run, two walks, threw one wild pitch, and struck out six.  (ground out-fly out:4-0)

Bryan Anderson (Memphis), Luis Mateo (Johnson City), and Yadier Molina (St. louis-December): Did not play for Carolina.


Former minor league spring invite Miguel Negron went 3-for-5 with one double and two RBIs for Caguas.
