Games Played – Sunday May 3rd

Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A) - WASHED OUT

Memphis and Iowa were washed out again on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

The Cubs were leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth when the game was suspended due to rain. The game will resume on Sunday, May 31st. Starter Adam Ottavino is still looking for his first win on the season, he is 0-3 with a 7.94 ERA. He has 14 strikeouts with 10 walks, and hasn't pitched more than 51/3 innings in a game and may have avoided his fourth loss Sunday.

Memphis travels to Omaha to begin a four-game series today. Brad Thompson will get the ball for Memphis. Game time is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

TOP 40 PROSPECTS: Bryan Anderson (#3), Jess Todd (#4), Jon Jay (#10), Clayton Mortensen (#11), Adam Ottavino (#13), Allen Craig (#14), Nick Stavinoha (#30), and Shane Robinson (#33).

Springfield Cardinals (Double-A) - POSTPONED

Sunday's game between the Springfield Cardinals and the Tulsa Drillers has been postponed due to the threat of on-coming rain in the Tulsa area. The game will be made up as part of a double-header on June 11th, when Springfield visits Tulsa again.

The Cards will be back in action this morning with a scheduled 10:05 a.m. start against the Tulsa Drillers at Drillers Stadium. Lance Lynn will be making his Double-A debut,

Palm Beach Cardinals (High-A) - Lost 2-1 to Jupiter

My main man Nick Additon threw six no-hit innings for the Palm Beach Cardinals Sunday, before the bullpen blew the fifth save opportunity in a row, losing another one-run game, a 2-1 decision to the Jupiter Hammerheads.

The Cardinals outhit the Hammerheads 5-3, but could only push one run across the plate, going just 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and leaving seven runners stranded on the basepaths.

It was the fifth straight game the bullpen has blown a game, a story line that is getting very old, very quick.

Leadoff man and outfielder Adron Chambers went 1-for-3 on the day and had the only extra-base hit in the game and scored the only run, as I continue to be impressed by his play this season.

TOP 40 PROSPECTS: Richard Castillo (#15), Nick Additon (#21), Adam Reifer (#22), Shaun Garceau (#28), David Kopp (#34) and Curt Smith (#39).

RECORD: 9-14, 5th Place, 5.0 GB - FSL South Division

Quad Cities River Bandits (A) - Lost to Clinton 4-3

The River Bandits led for most of the afternoon before falling to Clinton 4-3 on Sunday. The two clubs will finish the three-game series with a rubber match on Monday night.

Starter Scott McGregor tossed five innings, giving up just two runs on three hits and a walk, while striking out four, before turning the game over to the bullpen. Reliever Ramon Delgado was tagged with a blown save and then the loss, giving up the winning run in the eighth.

McGregor is a pitcher that fans should keep an eye on, last season he pitched at three different levels after the draft, going a combined 4-0 with a 1.45 ERA, 23 strikeouts and just five walks over 37.1 innings (12G, 3GS). After making his first two appearances in the Gulf Coast League, the Memphis product went 4-0 with a sparkling 0.33 ERA and a 20-3 K/BB ratio in 27 innings as a tandem starter at Johnson City. He then finished his pro debut with no record and a 2.84 ERA over three appearances and 6.1 innings in the Quad Cities bullpen.

First baseman Chris Swauger had the only extra-base hit Sunday, a double, going 1-for-4 on the day. Outfielder Jon Edwards and catcher Charles Cutler both went 2-for-4 and Cutler drove in a run.

TOP 40 PROSPECTS: Niko Vasquez (#16), Deryk Hooker (#27), Jon Edwards (#32), Arquimedes Nieto (#38) and Ryde Rodriguez (#40)
