Herron (2-3) won his first game since April 30th, allowing three unearned runs on just two hits over seven innings.
After Tony Cruz's RBI single gave the Cards an early 1-0 lead in the first, the Drillers got some help to take a 3-1 lead in the second. Springfield committed two errors in the top of the second, allowing three unearned runs to score on Herron.
The Springfield bats answered in the third though, as they tallied five times against Drillers' starter Andy Graham (1-3). Hill's RBI single knocked in Cruz to make it 3-2. After a single by Curt Smith loaded the bases, Tyler Henley followed with a grand slam, just his second homer of the year, giving Springfield the lead for good at 6-3.
Hill backed Herron with a three-run blast to left field in the seventh, giving the Cards a six-run lead at 9-3.
Daniel Descalso capped the Springfield scoring in the eighth, as he just missed another grand slam. With the bases loaded, Descalso punched one off the wall in left-center field, scoring Antone DeJesus and Daryl Jones for an 11-3 lead.
Joe Williams took over for Herron in the eighth. Williams worked a scoreless eighth, but gave up a solo homer to Jose Gonzalez in the ninth, as Tulsa capped their scoring at 11-4.
