Cardinals Agree to Terms with 32 Picks

The St. Louis Cardinals today announced that they have agreed to terms with 32 of their 50 selections from last week's MLB Draft.

The highest draft pick to agree to a contract was outfielder Virgil Hill from Los Angeles Mission College, the Cardinals 6th-round choice.

Virgil is the son of two former US Olympic silver medalists: Virgil Hill, who won his medal as a boxer in 1984, and Denean Howard-Hill, who earned her medal as part of the US 4x400-meter relay team. Virgil Hill Jr. was a three-sport start in high school, running track and playing football in addition to baseball at Valencia High School.

Hill hit .460 with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs and had 29 stolen bases as a sophomore for Los Angeles Mission. He was named an All-American and won a gold glove in his conference.
