Jess Todd picks up his 12th save as Memphis ends a six-game skid with a 6-3 win over Albuquerque. IN OTHER NEWS: Springfield suffers fourth straight loss as their lead in the standings is down to one game; Palm Beach wins 8-4 over Tampa and Quad Cities loses a doubleheader to the Peoria Chiefs.

Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A) - Winners 6-3 over Albuquerque.

The Memphis Redbirds put an end to their season-worst, six-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over Albuquerque Monday night.

With two outs the ‘Birds rallied for five runs to claim the lead in the eighth inning. Jarrett Hoffpauir's walk started the rally and Khalil Greene's two-run double to right field tied the game at 3-3. Allen Craig put the home team on top with a single to left to score Greene. Two batters later Matt Pagnozzi drove in two more runs with a single to cap the five-run rally. Craig finished the night 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Redbirds. Greene and Pagnozzi each had two hits and two RBI.

Starter Evan MacLane got a no-decision for his five innings of work, giving up three runs on eight hits, including two home runs. Redbirds reliever Royce Ring picked up the win with one perfect inning of relief. Jess Todd earned his 12th save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.

BRETT WALLACE WATCH: Playing at first base to make room for Khalil Greene who is with Memphis on a rehab assignment, playing at third base. Wallace went 1-for-3 with a base on balls and a run scored.

NOTE: Adam Ottavino will be taking the mound tomorrow night, still looking for his first win on the season.

Springfield Cardinals (Double-A) - Lost to Arkansas 7-2

With last night's loss Springfield (34-28), is now just one game up on Northwest Arkansas with eight to play, looks to get back on track on Tuesday, sending Trey Hearne (5-1) to the mound.

KOZMA TAKES AWARD: Pete Kozma was named the Texas League's offensive Player of the Week, after his outstanding performance last week. Kozma batted a league-best .455 average (10-for-22) with a home run and six RBIs in seven games. Kozma is just the second player this year to be honored with a weekly league award (Steven Hill).

Palm Beach Cardinals (High-A) - Defeated Tampa Bay 8-4

Leadoff man and outfielder Adron Chambers had another good night at the plate Monday, going 3-for-6 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored to help lead the Cardinals offense. Outfielder Shane Peterson had a couple of extra-base hits, a double & a triple, to drive in two runs and third baseman Jermaine Curtis also had two RBIs as the Cardinals doubled up on the Yankees, 8-4.

Richard Castillo picked up his first win of the season, despite a shaky outing that included four walks and a wild pitch. Castillo, who was one of the most dominating pitchers last season in the organization, is sporting a 1-6 record with a 4.29 ERA. Casey Mulligan picked up his first save for Palm Beach, retiring the only batter he faced to close out the game.

Quad Cities River Bandits (A) - Bandits Drop Two

The Quad Cities River Bandits suffered through a doubleheader sweep on Monday night by the Peoria Chiefs at O'Brien Field, getting blown out 8-0 in the opener before a valiant comeback resulted in a walk-off, 5-4 loss in game two.

Shortstop Jose Garcia - seeing his first action of 2009 in the Midwest League - who tripled and homered to bring the River Bandits back to even in game two, was well on his way for "Player of the Day" honors before committing a pair of errors in the seventh that led to the decisive run for Peoria in the nightcap.

Batavia Muckdogs (SS) - The Muckdogs will begin the defense of their NYPL Championship Title on June 19th when they host Auburn at home.

Johnson City Cardinals (R) - The Cardinals will open the season on the road in Kingsport on Tuesday, June 23rd. The Cardinals will play a three game series with the Mets before the action comes to Howard Johnson Field on Friday, June 26th when the Cardinals play host to the Burlington Royals in the 2009 home opener.

Gulf Coast League Cardinals (R) - The GCL Cardinals open their season on June 23 vs. the GCL Marlins.

Minor League Pitcher of the Day - Jess Todd

Todd picked up his 12th save on the season to help the Memphis Redbirds end their six game skid.



Minor League Player of the Day - Adron Chambers

As Chambers goes, so does the Palm Beach Cardinals. Yesterday Chambers went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored to help lead his team to an 8-4 win over Tampa.
