Colombian League News

Toros de Sincelejo announced Cardinals' minor league catching coordinator Dann Bilardello will be returning to manage the team for the 2009-10 Colombian League season.  This could lead to the return of pitching coach Tim Leveque.

Cardinals' Colombian scout Neder Horta is in limbo at this time as he was fired by the Tigres de Cartagena (lost out to former MLB star Juan Samuel), but the Leones de Monteria are considering him for their vacant manager job.

Others who may also be playing in the league, along with John De Aguas (Leones de Monteria), could be Donovan Solano, Alexander Castellano (both of Caimanes de Barranquilla), and Luis Orozco (Toros de Sincelejo).  Orozco recently told me that he was awaiting word from the Cardinals' organization on where he might play, this coming almost a week or so ago.

Keep in mind that the Cardinals organization may send a handful of prospects to participate this winter in the league.  Rosters should be set in the next couple of weeks for the season that opens on October 23.

Nicaraguan Prospect League

Sunday's Results:

Johnny Polanco and La Trinidad's game against Masaya was postponed due to a bus accident.

Jem Argenal went 4-for-8 with two runs scored and four stolen bases combined in UNICA's twinbill.  UNICA swept the doubleheader over San Isidro.
