Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 09/19/09

Evan MacLane pitched the Memphis Redbirds to a 6-0 game three road win and sweep of Sacramento in the PCL finals. It is the Cardinals first Triple-A league championship since 2000.

Former Cardinal Alberto Castillo signed on to play for Azucareros del Este after being released by Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican League.  The league begins play October 16.

An informal fall league has sprouted up in Arizona that will serve as a short-term replacement for the now-defunct Hawaii Winter League and with its announced successor not ready to go.  No Cardinals prospects are expected to participate since their operations hail in Florida and the teams organizing this event are all Arizona-based spring teams: MLB Official Site


The Florida Winter League signed their first big name in former Illinois football star and current Milwaukee Brewers minor leaguer Dallas McPherson.  He will play for the Space Coast Surge: FWBL Official Site
