The body of former major league pitcher Geremi Gonzalez will be exhumed for another autopsy, later in October.  There were doubts into whether he was killed by a lightning strike (as originally thought) or murdered.  Roughly a year ago, a current unnamed major league player contacted the family to notify them of some items that belonged to Gonzalez had wound up in another person's hands.  Gonzalez began his career in the Chicago Cubs organization in 1992 and pitched 14 seasons in major league affiliated baseball, pitched for Magallanes and Zulia in Venezuela, and passed away in May 2008: ESPN Deportes

Colombian League (October 23)

Donovan Solano (Memphis) has been confirmed to be in Caimanes de Barranquilla camp while Alexander Castellano (VSL) is not.

Barranquilla will be playing their home games in neighboring stadiums/fields until the roofs are fixed after weather has taken its toll causing cracking and falling debris (picture in your head Wrigley Field gone really wrong).

Nicaraguan League (October 23)

The league will have a dedication for current Palm Beach Cardinals pitching coach Dennis Martinez on opening day.

Puerto Rican League (November 12)

The league ran in to some problems as their president announced his resignation but they have regrouped and appointed a replacement.

The league is also working to acquire the rights to the Cangrejeros de Santurce club.  The team is currently owned by former major leaguer Jose Valentin and he has no interest in participating.  Financial backers have also decided not to put any more money into the team.  To make matters worse, the team currently has no right to play in their home stadium, for which the league is trying to work out a deal at this time.  There is talk that another independent group of buyers may be interested in taking over the team.
