Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 10/14/09

Our daily reports on Cardinals prospects in winter ball continue as Arizona Fall League play begins.

Arizona Fall League


Daryl Jones (Springfield) started in left field and batted leadoff.  0-for-4 with two runs, one walk, one hit by pitch and one strikeout.


Bryan Anderson (Memphis) started as designated hitter and batted fourth.  3-for-5 with one RBI, three runs and one walk.


Mike Parisi (Memphis) entered in the sixth and pitched one inning. He induced three ground outs.  (p-s:4-4)


Gary Daley (Springfield) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  Allowed no hits or runs, walked one and struck out one. (p-s:17-9)(g/f:1-1)


Surprise clobbered Peoria Javelinas 17-4

Clayton Mortensen (Athletics) was set to pitch in the AFL but was pulled back, perhaps due to his DUI arrest after the final A's regular season game: Baseball America



Mexican Pacific League


Fernando Salas (Memphis) and Hermosillo were postponed (wet grounds) for their Tuesday matchup with Guasave.

Hugo Castellanos (Former Memphis-Obregon) entered in the seventh and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and two walks (one intentional).  (g/f:1-1)
