Arizona Fall League

 

Daniel Descalso (Memphis) started at second base and batted second.  1-for-4 with one double, one run, one walk, one strikeout, and assisted in two double plays.
Bryan Anderson (Memphis) started at catcher and batted eighth.  0-for-3 with one walk, one strikeout, allowed one stolen base, and threw out one runner.
Scott Gorgen (Springfield) entered in the fifth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, one earned run, three walks, and struck out one. (p-s:29-9)(g/f:0-1)

Gary Daley (Springfield) entered in the seventh and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck out one. (p-s:11-7)(g/f:1-1)

 

Peoria Javelinas beat Surprise 2-1

Surprise (7-5) and the Cardinals prospects get their first shot at the Washington Nationals' 2009 first-round pick Stephen Strasburg, starting for Phoenix (8-4), on Tuesday @ 12:35 PM MST.

 

 

Mexican Pacific League

 

Fernando Salas (Memphis-Hemrosillo) has made four relief appearances posting a 0.00 ERA and one hold.  He has allowed no hits or runs, one walk, and struck out two over 2.1 innings.

Andy Cavazos (Former St. Louis-Guasave) has made four relief appearances posting a 0.00 ERA and one hold.  He has allowed four hits, no runs, two walks, and struck out five over 3.1 innings.

Mike McCoy (Former Memphis-Culiacan) has played in six games going 8-for-25 (.320) with one double, one RBI, nine total bases, seven runs, four walks, six stolen bases, two strikeouts, one caught stealing, .433 OBP, .360 SLG, and .793 OPS.

Iker Franco (Former Springfield-Obregon) has played in six games going 4-for-21 (.190) with one RBI, four total bases, three runs, three walks, one strikeout, .292 OBP, .190 SLG, and .482 OPS.

Hugo Castellanos (Former Memphis-Obregon) has made ten relief appearances posting a 2.79 ERA and one hold.  He has allowed ten hits, three earned runs, hit one batter, walked four, and struck out six over 9.2 innings.

Cesar Valera (GCL) started at shortstop and batted third.  2-for-5 with one double, two RBIs, one run, and two strikeouts.

Jem Argenal (VSL) started in left field and batted fourth.  1-for-4 with one RBI, one run, one walk, and one stolen base.

Yorbel Alcala (DSL) started at catcher and batted fifth.  0-for-4 with one RBI, one run, one strikeout, and one passed ball.

Limbert Rivas (VSL) started at first base and batted seventh.  2-for-4 with one RBI, one run, one walk, and one stolen base.

Hayrich Martina (VSL) started as designated hitter and batted ninth.  2-for-5 with one stolen base.

Dail Villanueva (VSL) started and pitched four innings.  He allowed three hits, no runs, two walks, and struck out two. (g/f:5-3)

According to ESPN's Jorge Arangure, the Cardinals' meeting with Cuban free agent Aroldis Chapman will be re-scheduled.

 

Rumor floating around is that Wagner Mateo drilled a shot in the World Wood Bat home run derby that hit Jeff Luhnow's window.
