Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 10/29/09

Free agent-to-be Evan MacLane is the player of the day in our daily report on Cardinals prospects in winter ball.

Arizona Fall League

 

Daniel Descalso (Memphis) started as designated hitter and batted second.  1-for-4 with one walk and one strikeout.

Tyler Henley (Springfield) started in left field and batted seventh.  1-for-3 with one walk, one outfield assist, and assisted in one double play.

Bryan Anderson (Memphis) started at catcher and batted eighth.  0-for-4 with one strikeout and allowed one stolen base.

 

Peoria Saguaros beat Surprise 9-0

Mike Parisi (Memphis) takes the ball for Surprise (7-7) as they visit Scottsdale (6-8) Thursday @ 12:35 PM MST.

 

 

Mexican Pacific League

 

Reid Gorecki (Former Springfield-Navojoa) started as designeted hitter and batted third.  1-for-2 with one double, two RBIs (one w/two-outs), one walk, and one caught stealing.

Javier Brito (Former Memphis-Margarita) started at first base and batted sixth.  1-for-3 with two runs, three walks, one strikeout, and assisted in two double plays.

Dennis Abreu (Former Tennessee-Margarita) entered in the eighth as a pinch hitter and took over left field, batting seventh.  0-for-1 at the plate.

Kristhiam Linares (Palm Beach Free Agent-Margarita) entered in the fourth and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed four hits, two earned runs, one walk, and threw one wild pitch. (g/f:3-1)(ir-s:1-1)

Limbert Rivas (VSL) started at catcher and batted sixth.  0-for-2 with one walk and one strikeout.

Hayrich Martina (VSL) started at third base and batted seventh.  1-for-3 with one strikeout and one error.

Alexander Castellano (VSL) started in right field and batted ninth.  1-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Francisco Guzman (VSL) started and pitched 4.2 innings.  He allowed five hits, two earned runs, one walk, and struck out one for the losing decision (1-1). (g/f:9-4)

Deimer Bier (VSL) entered in the fifth and pitched 2.1 innings.  He allowed one hit, no runs, two walks, and struck out four. (g/f:1-2)

Geney Rios (GCL) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out one. (g/f:0-2)

Dominican League

 

Julio Manon (Former Johnson City-Azucareros) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, one earned run, one home run, and stuck out two. (g/f:0-1)

 

Timo Perez (Former St. Louis-Licey) started in left field and batted third.  1-for-3 with one walk.

D'Angelo Jimenez (Former Memphis-Licey) entered in the seventh at third base and batted fifth.  One walk.

Amaury Cazana (Memphis-Licey) started as designated hitter and batted sixth.  0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

Oneli Perez (Memphis-Free Agent-Licey) entered in the eighth and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed one hit and no runs. (g/f: 2-2)(ir-s:2-0)

Puerto Rican League (November 12)

 

Leones del Ponce opened practices on Wednesday and former St. Louis Cardinal Eduardo Perez will again manage the team this coming winter season: Primera Hora

 

Carlos Delgado has expressed interest in playing this winter in Puerto Rico.  He'll be a free agent after the World Series and is most likely out of the New York Mets' plans for the 2010 season.  If healthy, he will play for Gigantes de Carolina.  Primera Hora

 

A group of owners have come to an agreement to take over the Cangregeros de Santurce franchise from Jose' Valentin, but still do not have a home stadium to play in. Licey Official Site
