Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 11/05/09

Tyler Henley is the player of the day in our daily report on Cardinals prospects in winter ball.

Arizona Fall League

 

Tyler Henley (Springfield) started in right field and batted sixth.  3-for-4 with one double, one home run, one RBI, and two runs.

Bryan Anderson (Memphis) started at catcher and batted eighth.  2-for-4 with two runs, one RBI, and one strikeout.

Mike Parisi (Memphis) started and pitched four innings.  He allowed seven hits, three earned runs, two walks, and struck out two for the winning decision (2-1). Parisi was ejected in the fourth inning.  (p-s:68-46)(g/f:5-5)

Adam Reifer (Palm Beach) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed two hits, no runs, and struck out two for the hold (1). (p-s:23-13)(g/f:0-1)

Mike McCoy (Former Memphis-Culiacan) started at shortstop and batted leadoff.  1-for-4 with one double, one run, and one walk.

Joe Rogers (Former Memphis) and Cosamaloapan beat Veracruz 3-2.

Rogers pitched a complete game victory on Tuesday allowing four hits, two runs, three walks, and striking out six.

 

Francisco Rivera (Palm Beach) and San Andres beat Xalapa 4-1.

 

 

Venezuelan League

 

Jose Garcia (Springfield-Aragua) entered in the eighth at second base, batting leadoff.  0-for-1 with one strikeout and one throwing error.

Jose Rada (Johnson City-Aragua) entered in the sixth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, one walk, hit one batter, and threw one wild pitch. (g/f:2-1)(ir-s:3-0)

Domnit Bolivar (Quad Cities-Aragua) started in left field and batted seventh.  1-for-4 with one walk.

Reynier Gonzalez (Johnson City-Aragua) entered in the eighth and pitched three innings.  He allowed no hits or runs, two walks, and struck out three.  (g/f:3-3)

 

Aragua and Leones tied 3-3 after 11 innings

 

Ildemaro Vargas (VSL-Caribes) started at second base and batted second.  3-for-5 with two RBIs, three runs, and one sac fly

Roberto Espinoza (Quad Cites-Caribes) started at first base and batted fifth.  2-for-3 with one RBI, one run, one hit by pitch, and one strikeout.

Dominican League

 

Yasser Gomez (Cuban Free Agent-Estrellas) started in right field and batted second.  0-for-4 and one outfield assist.

Juan Richardson (Former Springfield-Estrellas) started at third base and batted fourth.  1-for-4 with one run and ground into one double play.

Fernando Tatis (Former St. Louis-Estrellas) started at first base and batted fifth.  2-for-3 with one double and one run.

Kelvin Jimenez (Former St. Louis-Estrellas) entered in the sixth and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and one walk. (g/f:1-3)(ir-s:1-0)

 

Timo Perez (Former St. Louis-Licey) started in left field and batted second.  4-for-5 with one double, three two-out RBIs, and one run.
