Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 11/15/09

Jon Jay is the player of the day in our daily report on Cardinals prospects in winter ball.

Arizona Fall League

 

Tyler Henley (Springfield) started in right field and batted seventh.  0-for-4 with one strikeout.

Bryan Anderson (Memphis) started at catcher and batted eighth.  1-for-3 with one walk and allowed two stolen bases.

Daryl Jones (Springfield) started in centerfield and batted nineth.  2-for-4 with one ground into double play and was picked off.

Scott Gorgen (Springfield) entered in the seventh and pitched one inning.  He allowed two hits, two earned runs, one home run, two walks, and struck out one for the blown save (1) and losing decision (0-1). (p-s:29-18)(g/f:1-1)

Adam Reifer (Palm Beach) entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck out one. (p-s:16-12)(g/f:2-0)

 

Scottsdale beat Surprise 4-2

Mike Parisi (Memphis) is scheduled to start for Surprise (12-16) as they host Peoria Javelinas (17-11) Monday @ 12:35 PM MST.  This will probably be Parisi's last AFL appearance.

 

 

Mexican Pacific League

 

Mike McCoy (Former Memphis-Culiacan) started at shortstop and batted leadoff.  1-for-3 with one RBI, one run, one walk, and two stolen bases.

Joe Rogers (Former Memphis-Cosamaloapan) started and pitched eight innings.  He allowed 11 hits, six runs (five earned), two walks, and struck out one for the losing decision.

Venezuelan League

 

Jose Garcia (Springfield-Aragua) started at shortstop and batted ninth.  1-for-3 with one strikeout.

 

Marcos Rodriguez (Former Palm Beach-Caribes) started in left field and batted seventh.  1-for-2 with one strikeout.

Jose Garcia (Springfield-Aragua) entered as a pinch runner in the seventh and takes over second base.  One stolen base and assisted in one double play.

Pedro Rodriguez (MiLB Sigining-Caribes) entered in the seventh and pitched to five batters.  He allowed two hits, three earned runs, one home run, one intentional walk, and struck out one for the losing decision (3-1). (g/f:0-1)(ir-s:2-0)

Fernando Tatis (Former St. Louis-Estrellas) started as designated hitter and batted third.  1-for-4 with one double, one run, and one strikeout.

Tony Cruz (Springfield-Estrellas) entered in the eighth as a pinch hitter and took over catcher, batting fifth.  0-for-1 at the plate.
