Mexican Pacific League

 

Hugo Castellanos (Former Memphis-Mexicali) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and struck one out. (g/f:2-0)

 

Mike McCoy (Former Memphis-Culiacan) started at third base and batted second.  2-for-3 with one RBI, one run, one walk, one sacrifice, and one stolen base.

Javier Avendano (GCL) started and pitched four innings.  He allowed five hits, two runs (one earned), two walks, threw one wild pitch, and struck out two. (g/f:7-2)

Jhoan Villegas (VSL tryout) entered in the fifth and pitched two innings.  He allowed two hits, no runs, three walks, and struck out one. (0-4)

Jackson Solarte (VSL) entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs. (g/f:1-2)

Jonathan Gonzalez (Quad Cities-Zulia) entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck out one.  (g/f:2-0)

Chambers started in centerfield and batted leadoff.  0-for-2 with one run, two walks, and one strikeout. Chambers had his 19-game hitting streak snapped.

Shorey started in right field and batted third.  0-for-2 with two RBIs and two sac flies.

Swauger started at first base and batted seventh.  2-for-4 with one home run, four RBIs, and one run.


Barranquilla beat Cartagena 7-4 in game two of doubleheader:

 

Javier Colina (Former Memphis-Monteria) started as designated hitter and batted fourth.  0-for-4 at the plate.

John DeAguas (VSL-Monteria) entered in the sixth and pitched 2.2 innings.  He allowed three hits, no runs, one walk, and struck out two.

International Market Place

 

The New York Yankees signed Dominican outfielder Eladio Moronta.  He had been signed earlier in the year but was suspended and released after the MLB found he falsely documented his age.  Baseball America

 

The New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, and Oakland Athletics seem to be the front runners for Cuban defector Noel Arguelles.  He could receive a contract in the neighborhood of what Dayan Viciedo (White Sox) was signed for.  Yankees still have Aroldis Chapman higher on their wishlist.  Yahoo
