Edgar Gonzalez (Former Springfield-Mazatlan) started at second base and batted third.  1-for-2 with one RBI, one walk, one hit by pitch, one strikeout, and one caught stealing.  ESPN's Jorge Arangure posted on twitter that Gonzalez could be close to signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

38-year old Cuban pitcher Norge Luis Vera had successful surgery on his face after getting caught in a post-game brawl.  He represented the country in the World Baseball Classic and in the Olympics (2000, 2004, 2008).  Vera is expected to be ready for the 2010 season.  He has a combined 163-64 record and 2.66 ERA over 16 seasons. La Prensa

 

 

International Market Place

 

ESPN's Jorge Arangure posted updates on a pair of Cuban pitchers trying to latch on with a MLB team this winter.  26-year old right-hander Deinys Suarez and 27-year old right-hander Yuniesky Maya threw bullpen sessions for scouts on Tuesday.  One scout said that Maya has three good pitches and may be ready for the majors now.  Both are considered to be more ready for the major leagues than 21-year old Aroldis Chapman.
