Mexican Pacific League


Mike McCoy (Former Memphis-Culiacan) started at third base and moved to shortstop, batting leadoff.  2-for-5 with one strikeout.


Reid Gorecki (Former Springfield-Navojoa) started in left field and batted third.  0-for-2 with two walks and one strikeout.

Gustavo Martinez (Former GCL-Managua) has a 2-3 record, 0.79 ERA, and eight saves.  He's allowed 23 hits, nine runs (two earned), eight walks, and struck out 21 over 22.2 innings.


Edgard Montiel (Former DSL-Granada) has played in 22 games going 5-for-19 (.263) with four RBIs, three runs, one walk, and four strikeouts.


Nicaraguan National Baseball Championship has set January 7th as the deadline for players to sign up.  The 2010 season begins on February 5th. La Prensa and El Nuevo Diario

ESPN Jorge Arangure posted at his blog that it is highly unlikely that Cuban free agent Aroldis Chapman will sign with a major league club before the end of the 2009 year.  If/when he signs in 2010, the 21-year old lefty will be subject to U.S. taxes.  ESPN
