Mexican Pacific League Playoffs


Amaury Cazana (Memphis-Navojoa) started in left field and batted fifth.  1-for-4 with one home run, four RBIs, one run, and one strikeout.

Edgar Gonzalez (Former Springfield-Mazatlan) started at second base and batted third.  2-for-5 with one double, one RBI, two runs, and two strikeouts.  Kyodo News is reporting that Gonzalez is on the verge of signing a deal with the Japan Series Champions Yomiuri Giants.


Mike McCoy (Former Springfield-Culiacan) started at third base and batted leadoff.  1-for-4 with one two-out RBI, one walk, and one throwing error.

Former Licey manager Dave Jauss filed an appeal against a two-year suspension enforced by the Dominican League for his actions in the December 30th game.  Juan Melo (Licey) was suspended for two games.  Ron Belliard (Former St. Louis-Licey), Jose Batista (Blue Jays-Licey), Ronny Paulino (Pirates-Licey), Matt Tupman (Royals-Licey), Jose Veras (Rockies-Escogido), Willis Otanez (Puebla-Escogido), and Gilberto Mejia (Escogido) were all fined.  Listin Diario

Taking a look at one of Nicaragua's top pitchers in Armando Hernandez (Granada) and his 2009 season: La Prensa  One thing that is pointed out in the article is that Hernandez's WHIP is comparable to former St. Louis Cardinal Dan Haren.

International Market Place


According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the New York Mets and New York Yankees are not interested in Aroldis Chapman.  Olney also tweets that the bidding is expected to reach the $20 million mark and some feel he will be of much better use out of the bullpen rather then as a starting pitcher.

The Florida Marlins have pulled out of the running for the left-handed pitcher.


Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal says the Los Angeles Angels Angels are trying very hard to nab Chapman, while Yahoo's Tim Brown tweets that the Angels are not in that deep on him.


The Texas Rangers have signed Dominican left-handed pitcher Victor Payano.  His contract was voided out during the summer after the Boston Red Sox found some lingering problems with his arm/shoulder.


Yoanner Negrin, Yunesky Sanchez, and Yaniel Cabezas have all defected from Cuba to Miami, FL: El Nuevo Herald


The Kansas City Royals have still not yet finished the Noel Arguelles signing.  There is a hold up in the immigration papers that would bring him to Kansas City for a physical.  Royals Official Site
