Yasser Gomez (Cuban Free Agent-Gigantes) started in right field and batted eighth.  2-for-4 with one triple, one strikeout, and one throwing error.


Nerio Rodriguez (Former St. Louis-Escogdio) started and pitched 5.2 innings.  He allowed four hits, two earned runs, one home run, and struck out two.  (g/f:4-11)

International Market Place


Dominican third baseman Duanel Jones had his contract canceled after failing the doping test portion of the physical and could also face a 5-game suspension if he signs with another MLB team: Listin Diario


Dominican right-hander Rafael DePaula, who was suspended for one year after false identification, is back on the market and throwing in the Dominican Prospect League.  He recently had his age verified and could still receive a visa card to pitch in the U.S. (much like Miguel Angel Sano).  The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox appear to be the front runners at this time: La Esquina


Sports Illustrated's Melissa Segura heard from sources that there could be a hold up for Dominicans looking for visas to the United States due to the Haiti earthquake.  This could keep some players from reporting on time to camps this spring.
