Coming off two injury plagued seasons, the St. Louis Cardinals Chris Carpenter came back strong with a Cy Young Award-worthy performance in 2009. Recently, he talked about his off-season and the upcoming baseball season.
Though he is the ace of the St. Louis Cardinals staff, Chris Carpenter
had made only five starts in 2007 and 2008. So it is not surprising that the jury was out on what was to be expected of him in 2009. Carpenter appeared to be back to his old self with an outstanding performance that propelled him to a second place finish in the National League Cy Young race.
In 2009, Carpenter posted a record of 17-4 with an 2.24 ERA, the best mark in the NL. Along with co-Ace Adam Wainwright, the team has a formidable rotation along with rotation mates Brad Penny and Kyle Lohse.
Recently, the 34-year-old spoke about his off-season and the upcoming baseball season.
