Cardinals Winter Leagues Notebook: 02/07/10

St. Louis Cardinals vice president Jeff Luhnow is among those scouting the Caribbean Series, scheduled to conclude Sunday.

Caribbean Series

 

Pablo Ozuna (Former Peoria-Escogido) started at second base and batted ninth.  1-for-3 with one run.

Julio Manon (Former Johnson City-Escogido) entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, one walk, and struck out one. (p-s:17-11)(g/f:1-1)

Armando Rios (Former Memphis-Mayaguez) started in right field and batted third.  1-for-5 with one strikeout.

 

Jason Simontacchi (Former St. Louis-Caracas) entered in the seventh and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit and no runs. (p-s:18-15)(g/f:1-2)

Commissioner of the Caribbean Confederation Juan Francisco Puello says that the Colombian League is very close to entering the Caribbean Series but still has some work to do when it comes to their equipment and stadiums.  Puello says he is also considering Panama, Nicaragua, and Cuba: Team Renteria

 

The Confederation of the Caribbean Series will have a meeting on Sunday February 7th and Colombian League chairman Edinson Renteria will make a presentation of how the 2009-10 season went to try and get into the Caribbean Series next year: Team Renteria

 

If Mayaguez and Escogido finish in a tie after Sunday's games, there will be a playoff game on Monday: ESPN Deportes
