Atlanta Braves beat writer Mark Bowman reports that the team is not interested in former Cardinals signee, Dominican Wagner Mateo.


The Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Boston Red Sox are scouting right-handed Taiwan pitcher Min-Tzu ChenTaiwan Baseball Blogspot


Ricardo Rincon (Former St. Louis) is aiming for a spot in the Petroleros de Minatitlan rotation.  MiLB Official Site

ESPN's Jorge Arangure tweets that Cuban first baseman/outfielder Jose Julio Ruiz has switched agents and it may slow down the process of him signing any time soon.


Arangure also tweeted that Cuban shortstop Adeiny Hechevarria received clearance from the MLB to sign with any team.  The New York Yankees are expected to be hot on Hechevarria as a possible future replacement for Derek Jeter.


MLB scouts are not interested in signing Haitian talent due to the high rate of failed background checks from past experiences.  Most Haitians that live in the Dominican are there illegally.  El Dia


The MLB will hold a number of baseball camps throughout Europe with the first being on April 30th in SwedenMister Baseball


Jamaica is looking to add to their sports resume with baseball being the preferred target.  The MLB may help to build the country's first-ever baseball park.  ESPN Deportes


Cuban left-handed hitting catcher Maikel Pineiro showcased for several teams but is still leaning toward the 2010 MLB draft instead of declaring himself a free agent at this time.


Tucson, AZ is negotiating with three Japanese baseball teams to come in and spend spring training possibly competing against MLB teams next year.  MLB official Site


The Dominican Prospect League official site profiles left-handed hitting outfielder Edwin Moreno, who will be available for the upcoming July 2nd period.


Juan Mosquera (Former GCL) playing for Panama Metro in the Panama League:

Mar 2: started at third base and batted ninth.  0-for-2 at the plate.

Mar 3: started at third base and batted ninth.  2-for-4 with one double.

Mar 4: entered late in the game at shortstop and batted third.  0-for-2 at the plate.

Mar 5: entered late in the game in the outfield.  1-for-2 at the plate.


Carlos Gonzalez (Former Johnson City) pitching for Panama Metro in the Panama League:

Mar 2: entered in the eighth and pitched one-third of an inning.  He struck out his only batter face.

Mar 3: entered in the ninth and pitched one-third of an inning.  He allowed no hits or runs and two walks.

Mar 4: entered in the seventh and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed three hits, two earned runs, two walks, and struck out one.


Panama Metro is 7-7 and tied for sixth in the league.

Edgard Montiel (Former DSL) has played in five games going 6-for-12 with one double, two RBIs, one run, one walk, three strikeouts, and one error as of March 1st.  Managua is currently 9-11 and tied for fourth in the Nicaraguan National Championship Group B Division.
