The Detroit Tigers are moving their Dominican Academy from former major league pitcher Jose Rijo's training complex to a newly-built facility in San Pedro de Macoris.

ESPN's Jorge Arangure writes that Cuban defectors Adeiny Hechevarria (Blue Jays), Jose Iglesias (Red Sox), and Noel Arguelles (Royals) could change the way free agents are pursued coming out of Cuba.

Arangure posted a question and answer session with Sandy Alderson.  MLB recently hired Alderson to fix the problems in the Dominican.  He met with the Dominican Republic government this past week.

Colombian League officials met with representatives of Populous to talk about how to improve the stadiums in the country.  The facilities seem to be the only thing keeping the league from entering the Caribbean Series.  Populous designed Roger Dean Stadium and many others across the major and minor leagues.  Team Renteria

Wagner Mateo (Former International Signing) worked out for the Arizona Diamondbacks.  The Diamondbacks seem to be interested in possibly making an offer to Mateo, but he still is scheduled to work out for a few more teams.  The Cleveland Indians were also expected to check out Mateo.  Mateo took on several Oakland Athletics' pitchers later in the week.

Sports Illustrated's Melissa Segura tweeted that Dominican pitcher Rafael DePaula is scheduled to work out for interested teams March 23rd.  The two front runners are the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.

The Dominican Prospect League is working to put together an All-Star game that will feature some of its top free agent prospects and upcoming July 2nd talent.  No date is set, but the league is aiming for April.
