Memphis falls apart after no-hitter is broken up. Springfield brings the bats for fourth straight win. Francisco Rivera's three RBI's put Palm Beach over the top. Quad Cities rained out, doubleheader set for Sunday. Jeff Luhnow discusses Scott Bittle.

Individual Highlights:

Jon Jay 3-for-5 with one double, one RBI, one run, and one strikeout.

Tyler Greene 1-for-5 with one two-out RBI, one run, one strikeout, and assisted in one double play.

Daniel Descalso 2-for-5 with one triple and three two-out RBIs.

Ruben Gotay 1-for-3 with one run, one walk, and one strikeout.

Mark Shorey 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Matt Pagnozzi 2-for-4 with one two-out RBI, one run, one strikeout, and alowed one stolen base.

Shane Robinson 1-for-4 with one double, one two-out RBI, one run, and one strikeout.

Lance Lynn started and pitched six innings.  He allowed two hits, three earned runs, three walks, struck out five, and assisted in one double play. (p-s:95-55)(g/f:5-7)

 

Rough Outing:

Tyler Henley 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.

Kevin Howard 0-for-4 and assisted in one double play.

Mike Folli 1-for-5 with one home run, two RBIs, one run, one strikeout, one missed catch error, and assisted in two double plays.

Thomas Eager entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, one walk, and struck one out. (p-s:19-10(g/f:2-0)

 

Former Cardinal:

Stuart Pomeranz entered in the seventh and pitched 1.2 innings.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out four. (p-s:22-15)(g/f:1-0)(ir-s:3-2)

Francisco Rivera 1-for-4 with one double, three two-out RBIs, one walk, one stolen base, one strikeout, and was picked off.

Xavier Scruggs 2-for-3 with one run, one walk, and assisted in one double play.

Alex Castellanos 1-for-3 with one walk, one stolen base, and one strikeout.

Arquimedes Nieto started and pitched six innings.  He allowed four hits, two earned runs, one walk, threw two wild pitches, and struck out three. (g/f:7-6)

Matt Frevert entered in the seventh and pitched two innings.  He allowed one hit, no runs, two walks, and struck out five for the winning decision (3-0). (g/f:1-0)

Casey Mulligan entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, struck out three for the save (3).

 

Rough Outing:

Rich Racobaldo 0-for-2 with two walks, two strikeouts, and was ejected in the eighth inning.

Domnit Bolivar 0-for-3 at the plate.

Manager Luis Aguayo was ejected in the eighth inning.

 

Notes:

Jeff Luhnow was kind enough to answer a question into what happened to Scott Bittle this past week.  In not so many words he explained that Bittle threw a bullpen session, felt pain, went to the doctor, and was scheduled for surgery.  This all occurred within a couple of days.
